Note to examiner.

The Youtube Evaluation videos uploaded to the last two posts have been uploaded wrongly by Youtube hence the grey emboss style at the beginning of the videos, this only effects the image of me and the sound is in no way altered throughout the videos.

Thank you for your time, and please enjoy my blog

The Final Video.

This is my final video For the media music video project, this is with the amendments all in place.

FINAL MUSIC VIDEO

Audience Research Questions

1) What do you like about this video?

Jo - I like the way the video flicks between a range of scenes to create one continuos picture, i like how these creates tension within the video.

2) What do you think of the filming?

Jo - I like how there is a good difference between what seems to be the hand held camera bits of the video and the HD camera sections.

3) If i was to remake this video what should i add?

Jo - Maybe more of the actress, I know it is meant as flashbacks but i like the scenes with her in them.

-

1) What do you like about this video?

Tracy - I like the way the video is laid out, and the effect gain by flicking through everything at speed.

2) What do you think of the filming?

Tracy - I think that maybe some camera angels could be better planned out but overall it works.

3) If i was to remake this video what should i add?

Just more of everything, everything could be a little better.

Music Video First. (Without amendments

This is my original final Music video for the project though after a lot of criticism from my peers I have since altered and corrected everything they have suggested and made it better in many ways, this is what they said.

- I would not be alloud to use the "Sony Music Entertainment" at the beginning of the video, as the video is not directly endorsed by them and the permission they have given me does not state that i need to do this in any way.

- The video is meant to have a contrast between the low definition handheld style filming throughout the flashback scenes but at the moment the quality is poor on all footage, I need to film the singing scenes and all the other scenes (excluding flashbacks) again to gain this contrast that i need.

- The lip syncing needs to be better by both editing it in time with the music more and with the movement of my mouth, I need to actually sing it out to make my face look believable. this is a big part of the music video and when it is right it will look really good!

- I have good footage for the flash backs but i need more of it because at the moment the video is repeating itself a lot and that is not what the audience wants to see!

- The male character needs to be framed better in the scene with the guitar, as half of his head is cut out of frame.

- Maybe cut the song length down a bit 6mins is a lot of song to find footage for.

RISK ASSESSMENT:

This risk assessment has been written up to display where the risks will be found when filming my video.

Filming Practice. Opening Sequence.

This is me playing around with ideas for an opening sequence for a music video, it shows us of multiple camera angles and the editing of music into the scene.

This is a opening sequence that shows a use of the tracks and dolly for the HDV Sony Camera.

My Digipak (Final)

DIGIPAK AUDIENCE RESEARCH:

1) Do you like this Digipak design: Hannah: Yes i like the Digipak but I am not sure that it would catch my eye in a shop full of other competitive Designs.

2) Do you like the text on the Digipak: Hannah: I do like the text but i think you should stick to one typeface to give more continuity. this way when i see that typeface i will automatically think of this album.

3) Do you like the images used: Hannah: I like how simple the images and how well they fit into the design

4) Do you like the colours used in the design?: Hannah: Yes i do like the colours they are bright enough to stand out on a shop shelf but not too bright.

5) What do you think i could add? Hannah: More images as that seems to be your strongest asset so far.

-

1) Do you like this Digipak design: Curtis: I do not like this design, as i think for the song that it is displaying it could be a lot better and there is so much imagery to work with.

2) Do you like the text on the Digipak: Curtis: I do like the original Front cover text but i feel bombarded  by all the other fonts.

3) Do you like the images used: Curtis: Yes i think the images so far work with the design but there could be more.

4) Do you like the colours used in the design?: Curtis: Yes i do I think they would stand out well on a shelf full of other designs.

5) What do you think i could add?: Curtis: More images that directly display the band, or the artist, to give the audience an idea of who they are listening to.

-

1) Do you like this Digipak design: Hattie: Yes I do like the Digipak and it would make me buy the album in the shops.

2) Do you like the text on the Digipak: Hattie: Yes I do and i think all the different texts work together to create a contrast.

3) Do you like the images used: Hattie: I love the images and i think they work well with the design, i like the television page as it really makes a contrast.

4) Do you like the colours used in the design?: I really like the colours as they will make it stand out on a shelf in a shop and it would draw my attention to it.

5) What do you think i could add?: Hattie: You could maybe add more images because that is the bit i like the most.

-

1) Do you like this Digipak design: Joel: Yes I do like the design of artwork and the presentation of the photography.

2) Do you like the text on the Digipak: Joel: I think the combination of Type faces creates a new depth to the artwork, it doesn't look band and every page is different.

3) Do you like the images used: Joel: I think the images fit this band perfectly, they display so many things in so little content.

4) Do you like the colours used in the design?: Joel: I am not normally a fan of blue things, but this pastel blue really fits in though still can contrast to the rest.

5) What do you think i could add? Just more pages, more things for the audience to get into!

My Magazine Advert (development and final)

Audience Questionnaire.

 Dan:
1) Do you like the colour of this advert: Yes i think the colour of this advert is really good, it makes a change from what you would normally see, this means there will be a contrast.

2) Do You use the font used?: I like the font, it is easy to read, but also stands out and gives a brilliant effect,

3) What do you think about the photography used?: I like it because the image doesnt stand out loads and you have to look into it to find it, it adds depth.

4) what audience do you think this would appeal most too? This would appeal to people my age most, about 18.
5) If i was to change anything, what should i change: you should maybe change the positioning of the critiques and there names, to make it flow better.

-
Alex.

1) Do you like the colour of this advert: I am not a fan of the colour, i think it may make it appeal to girls or a younger audience more than people of my age (17)

2) Do You use the font used?: I think the Font also makes it look playful and almost childish, it doesnt fit with what the band are about.

3) What do you think about the photography used?: I dont like it that much, as you can not see the image till you look closely and most people will just scan past and miss it!
4) what audience do you think this would appeal most too? A younger audience of 14 to 16 maybe.

5) If i was to change anything, what should i change: The colour, the image and the font!

-

Joe

5) If i was to change anything, what should i change: The photography is the only issue i see.

First attempt

This poster was criticised by teachers and other members of my media class, things that came up the most were, is that your own photo? who is it in the photo? what magazine would this be for? The critique's are not positioned very well.

MGMT Digipak Review.

The Front Panel. Simple design simple text down the middle, colours are depicted by the picture these colours continue around the item to the back cover, the inside does not have these colours and it creates a contrast between them. The cover also has stickers on it, these stickers hold information that changes due to the place it is sold it or when it is sold etc they are stickers so they can add the info at a later date. It also has the Parental Guidance logo on, something that has to be added by law in the UK.

This image shows the contrast between the front cover and the inside. The inside is also made up of an image.

This image shows the CD flap. this is an easy system and is also environmentally friendly due to the fact that no plastics are used in the making
Note how the image on the inside of the case continues on the inside layer of the flap.

DIGIPAK 2

DIGIPAK 1

this photo shows that the small flap at the bottom of the of the page could be easy to break.

Magazine Research.

This is an excellent advert from Elbow which was found on the back of MoJo magazine, unlike most it is not advert for HMV, it is an advert for Amazon music stall. The advert contains a small image that has no actual meaning but can be portrayed differently by different readers, I said that it maybe a small animal drawn roughly on the page where as my friend joel said it was a person on the page. The advert contains a small amount writing but all of it is too point and informative. Amazon doesnt have a big presents on the page just a small logo at the bottom of the page.

This is an advert for the new Slash album, on behalf of HMV, unlike the Amazon advert HMV plays a big part in the advert with control over a large amount of the logos page positions imagery

Promotion.

Promotion is a massive part of this project, with out promotion there is no sales for the project.

James Smith

Sony Music Entertainment.

My Email to the record label.

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Matthew Wright and I am a 2nd year Media student at Thomas Adams College in Wem, Shropshire, I am emailing you for permission to use the Manchester Orchestra song "Where Have You Been?" in a music video which I am making for this years coursework.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your reply.

Manchester Orchestra.

Manchester Orchestra is an American indie rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2005. The group is currently composed of rhythm guitarist-singer-songwriter Andy Hull, lead guitarist Robert McDowell, keyboardist and percussionist Chris Freeman, bassist Jonathan Corley and drummer Tim Very. Former drummer Jeremiah Edmond parted ways with the band in January 2010 to focus on his family as well as running the band's record label, Favorite Gentlemen.[1] To date they have released several extended plays and two studio albums to critical praise – I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child (2006) and Mean Everything to Nothing (2009). They are currently signed to independent record label Favorite Gentlemen Recordings, which is distributed through Sony Music Entertainment.

I have chosen to do a song called "Where Have you Been" By the band, It is a very emotional song, which shows a mans struggle to find his lost love and regain his relationship with his partner.

Electronic Music video. (Soulwax - NY Excuse)

As the last few videos have been Rock/country based i have chosen to do an extra video analysis, This is so i can research video's which could include animation and other types of mediums.

This video combines nearly all the different types of editing techniques and recording methods.

at the very start it flicks between photos and words this creates a subliminal messaging type appearance and creates an uncomfortable viewing.

There is only one main scene that is involves the band, this has then been edited and deconstucted so that it can fit into uncomfortable style of the rest of the video.

the other clips look like they are mainly form old adverts that have been cut up and in some cases reversed.
